EXCEL GALORE

Today I was required to make a couple of PowerPoint tutorials regarding Microsoft Excel. The first PowerPoint I created included the Basics of Excel as well as mathematical commands the middle school students can use. I also touched upon using the Auto Sum feature, inserting symbols for their mathematical equations, and utilizing the function button to do their calculations. These PowerPoints will be used to teach the students to use Excel for their upcoming Math Project Fair.

I found it a bit frustrating because supposedly the Bentley students that go to McDevitt on a different day were assigned to make PowerPoints about charts, graphs, and tables. However, due to lack of communication between the other Bentley Students and Project Managers, no one knows who is doing what. In response to that, I emailed Project Managers as well as the McDevitt teacher the PowerPoints I created and asked questions as to who is doing what.

  1. If the PowerPoint presentations were created in Google Presentation they could then be shared with the teacher(s), as well as the other Bentley students. This would also model the use of Google Presentation - a web 2.0 tool! Teachers have a Google Apps account in this format: firstlast@walthampublicschools.org
